WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR VISIT

Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery.  Sessions promote transformation by encouraging the individual to listen closely to their own answers and find the empowerment from within.  There is a lot of reflective work, while also validation that the client knows themselves best.  Therefore, the role as a Clinician is often that of helping declutter some of the extra noise that can take place, to help the client hear their own internal voice again.

All services are via Tele-Health, on a secure video platform.  This allows for the Client to stay in a place that they already feel comfortable and have their own belongings with them.

The type of therapy will differ depending on your circumstances, as well as the mode or methods that work best with each person.  Other members may join the sessions as asked by the individual.  Every person and situation are different, so the amount of people in a session can change.  This is something that we can always address as time changes.

The process will start with an initial email to the Administrative Assistant. Information is gathered to see what services are a benefit to you and to ensure the Clinician is a good fit for your needs, as therapy is a mutual relationship.  It is helpful to have an overview of your concerns during this time, so that we are better able to assess the dynamic of the situation.  This is also a time for you to ask any questions you may have as well.  It's helpful when clients are able to voice what they are looking for in a therapist and need out of therapy (if you are aware of this), as it makes it transparent up front if styles will collaborate well together.  When there's an agreement that services would be a good fit, then we would move forward with scheduling an Initial Appointment.

Initial Session
This first meeting will  last 50 minutes. During this time, the Clinician will have an opportunity to learn more about you and your current experiences that you are wanting to address during therapy.  It will also give you time to voice any questions or concerns you may have about going to therapy, as well as questions about styles or approaches.

At the conclusion of this appointment, treatment recommendations will be made based upon your unique situation.  Approaches will be tailored to you specifically.

FAQ: About Therapy

HELPFUL INFORMATION

WHAT IS TELE-HEALTH?

Telehealth is healthcare provided by any means other than a face-to-face visit. In telehealth services, medical and mental health information is used for diagnosis, consultation, treatment, therapy, follow-up, and education. Health information is exchanged interactively from one site to another through electronic communications. Telephone consultation, videoconferencing, transmission of still images, e-health technologies, patient portals, and remote patient monitoring are all considered telehealth services.

HOW DO I "ARRIVE" FOR A TELE-HEALTH SESSION? (SOME HELPFUL TIPS TO ASSIST WITH THE SESSION)

Before the first session, you will receive a link to secure platform that you will use to login for our sessions.
Some things to help the session be as secure and beneficial as possible for you: Choose a secure/confidential location such as a bedroom, outside if you have privacy, car or other location that you feel comfortable in.  Try to have lighting in front of you rather than behind so that I am able to see your face as clear as possible and if possible headphones so that the conversation is clearer and feels more secure.
It is also helpful to have items of comfort such as blanket or stones for grounding purposes and something to drink to help hydrate and pause during sessions.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

The initial session takes between 50-60 minutes.  This is because of gathering as much information about your current situation as comfortably possible.  It is also a time for you to ask questions you may be having about the process as well.  After that, the typical session last between 45-50 minutes including the scheduling discussions at the beginning/end of session.

WHAT DO I DO DURING THERAPY?

This looks different for everyone.  A lot of the time the style I use is psychodynamics, meaning we talk.  There are questions that are asked, but often you are guiding the session based upon what is taking place that day.  Sometimes guided imagery is used to help someone relax, and we are always working on learning new coping strategies.

WHAT TYPES OF PAYMENTS ARE ACCEPTED?

We accept insurance payments (from those we are in network with) and private pay.  Private pay and co-payments can be made by all major credit cards or HSA cards through the therapy portal.

WHAT IF YOU DO NOT TAKE MY INSURANCE OR ARE NOT IN MY NETWORK, WILL YOU STILL SEE ME?

The short answer to this is yes.

Fees are determined on an insurance, fee-for-service, or sliding scale basis.  Fees will be determined before we meet for our initial session, and most of this is covered by your insurance, some sliding scale fees may be available for people with low income or for people who do not have adequate insurance.

DO YOU OFFER SLIDING SCALE RATES?

Yes, however this is something that is different for each individual depending on their circumstances.  If this is something that you need information on, please ask for more details.

If you have any more questions or something you still want to know, please email us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.  Thank you!
